BeginningYey....rasayyayayo rasa..., this is a song of the tribals of Wayanad. The song is hardly understandable as it is sung in the tribal dialect. Sung in a very complex tune it descibes the ways of life of these hill country races.

The folk songs or nadanpattu ( nadan - native, pattu - song) of Kerala tell tales of the land that have never been recorded. Kerala has as many variations of folk songs as there are variations in the land, climate, people and their occupations. Most of these melodious renderings are over 600 years old and have undergone much linguistic changes in the course of time.
