Venue: Celebrated all over Kerala
A celebration of equality, justice, prosperity and fairness, Onam the state festival of Keralites commemorates the return of a mythical, righteous king - Mahabali. This annual visit of Mahabali from the nether world to meet his subjects is celebrated by Keralites with week-long festivities. Children dart in the neighbourhood in search of flowers to make floral carpets that adorn their courtyards with numerous colours. Traditional arts and games throb the rustic ambience of villages. People forget the routine lethargy and engage themselves in cleaning their households and holiday shopping. On the Thiruvonam day sumptuous feasts are prepared and people savour the delicious payasam (Kerala dessert) along with joy and hope.
Disclaimer

But there can be changes in the dates according the customs and rituals associated with each place of worship. As such, these should be considered only as approximate dates and have to be confirmed with the local authorities.
