The
third annual ranking of India's Best and Worst
States by 'India Today',
country's widely read magazine rates
the State of Kerala high in certain key
areas of quality of life
and work. The rankings are based on eight parameters
viz.
agriculture, industrial environment, consumer market, health,
education,
law and order, infrastructure and budget and
prosperity.
In
the survey conducted among the 20 big
states of India, Kerala took the top spot
in the categories of Law
& Order, Primary Health, Literacy, and the
Healthiest;while it
bagged the second spot in the category of 'Best State
to
Live-in' and in 'Primary Education.' The survey also found
Kerala to be the
third 'Economically most free State' in
India.
In
the 2004 report also Kerala was ranked first in the
fields of 'Law & Order'
and 'Primary
Health.'
With tourism literally ruling the
roost in Kerala, with other key areas of fast
developing avenues
like Information Technology and Biotechnology holding
good
prospects in the State, the India Today 2005 report augurs
well for Kerala in
the coming days.
