Mr. Meiers just completed another round of Ayurveda therapy, when we caught up with him for a chat at the Somatheeram Ayurvedic Beach Resort.

A cheerful looking Mr. Meiers was full of enthusiasm as we sat down to hear his thoughts on God's Own Country. This genial Swiss had his first visit to Kerala in 1998, and the current tourist season is his second. 

Ayurveda is one of the many reasons why Mr. Meiers feel fantastic about Kerala. He is also a great admirer of the land and its cultural fabric, and highly appreciates the educated and technology conscious people of Kerala. In his words, "Kerala is simply beautiful and I must say that it is truly God's Own Country."

When asked about his memorable moments during his stay in Kerala, Mr. Meiers without pausing for a moment said that, he instantly fell attracted by beaches, the fishing villages, and the soul soothing sight of numerous small fishing boats with lanterns venturing into the sea just after dusk.

Coming from Switzerland, which is renowned for its tourism, Mr. Meiers feels that Kerala is catching up very well. He is of the opinion that the tourism authorities here are working hard to provide very good infrastructure and this is something fantastic from a foreigner's viewpoint. 

Even though located thousands of miles away from home, Mr. Meiers never felt alienated, just because of the friendly attitude of the local people and also with the wide reach of the internet he keeps in touch with the rest of the world, Mr. Meiers added.

Before we bid goodbye, Mr. Meiers stressed upon the point that he will recommend Kerala as an ideal tourist destination and the most ideal place to undergo Ayurveda therapies.

It seems Mr. Meiers is a perfect ambassador for Kerala Tourism, and hope that he will be back with more of his countrymen; pretty soon.
