Ingredients

Chicken pieces (cut into small pieces) - ½ kg (boneless)
Onions (sliced) - 2 cups
Garlic (chopped) - 2 tsp
Ginger (chopped) - 2 tsp
Green chillies (chopped) - 8 no.
Chicken masala powder - 2 tsp
Pepper (crushed) - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Coconut (grated) - 1 cup
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves - ½ cup
Salt
Oil
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Bay leaf

Method of preparation

Heat three teaspoons of oil in a kadai (big pan). Put mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger and garlic. Now add green chillies and big onions. Stir and sauté for some time and add the chicken pieces. Mix gently. Add chicken masala, crushed pepper, turmeric powder and salt.

You may now add two cups of water. Add bay leaf. Cover the vessel and cook well. When all of the water is absorbed, add grated coconut. Mix well. Cook for some more time. Add chopped coriander leaves and stir a bit.
