Pattambi Town in Palakkad

Pattambi acts as the synapse to roads from three prominent districts - Palakkad, Malappuram and Thrissur. One of the biggest towns in Palakkad, Pattambi is located on the banks of the mighty Bharathapuzha River. Its cultural contributions hold great importance to this day in God's Own Country.

Pattambi was once the principal seat of Sanskrit learning and it produced many an eminent Sanskrit scholar, who contributed to the language and literature, with Punnasseri Nambi being among the most famous. Neelakanta Sarma, a great scholar in his own right, created a Sanskrit school called 'Sarasvatodyothini' here in 1889. It would eventually turn into a college and churn out famous alumni like Kuttikrishna Marar and Poet P. Kunhiraman Nair. Pattambi also boasts of having one of the first Agricultural Research Centres in the Malabar area, established in 1927.
