The small village of Aranmula is world-famous for the 'Aranmula Kannadi' - metal mirrors with no refraction.
The kannadi (kannadi means mirror), which uses a technology found nowhere else in the world, is an example of the rich indigenous artistic technology of Kerala. Aranmula is also home to the famous Parthasarathi Temple on the banks of the holy Pamba River. The spectacular Aranmula boat race held here annually in connection with the temple festival in August-September is a major tourist attraction. |
