Outside the Himalayas, the 2695 m long Anamudi Peak is the highest point in India. Lying in the southern region of the Eravikulam National Park in Munnar, it has some of best trekking trails in the country. One gets a spectacular view of the valley below alongside glimpses of the neighbouring State of Tamil Nadu. Due to its location, it is also home to numerous rare wildlife species including the Nilgiri Tahr, Asian Elephant and Gaur. One must seek permission from the Eravikulam National Park authorities before planning treks here. They are equipped with specific information regarding trails and weather considerations that will ensure you have a safe and enjoyable sojourn here.
