Plantation town

Kumily’s economy is largely dependent on agriculture. Agricultural labourers constitute the majority of the population while estate labourers constitute 10%  percent of the total population.

Hundreds of acres of land have been devoted to plantations of tea and spices. Apart from these, the other major agriculture produce here include tapioca, rice, coconut, sugarcane, coffee, arecanut, ginger, lemon grass and vegetables.

Related activities such as crop husbandry and animal husbandry prosper in this area and support the agricultural activities as a whole.
