Standing Tall

This breathtaking view from Varkala beach may tell you what Kerala is. Coconut palms, as the poet put it, are trying to capture the blue sky with their stretching fingers, as the deep blue sea has already excelled the sky with its sparkling turquoise.

Varkala is a scenic beach destination in Thiruvananthapuram. The place is known as Papanasam (that which destroys all the sins), since as per the Hindu beliefs this is considered as one of the most auspicious places to perform post-funeral ceremonies. This secluded beach is known for its white stretch of sand, mineral springs and laterite cliff, from where this photograph has been taken.
