Eravikulam National Park, Idukki


The Nilgiri Tahr (Hemitragus hylocrus) is an endangered species of mountain goat. The Eravikulam National Park with rolling grasslands and shola forests is dedicated to the preservation of this animal. It is spread over 97 sq. km. near the Anamudi peak (2695 ms). Tiger, panther, wild dogs, civet cat, jungle cat, sloth bear, Nilgiri langur, wild boar etc. are the major mammals here. Tourists can go trekking in the park right upto the Anamudi peak.

Getting there:
Eravikulam is 15 km from Munnar.
Nearest railway station: Ernakulam, about 130 km from Munnar.
Nearest airport: Cochin International Airport, about 110 km from Munnar.
