Kovalam beach is a few kilometres south of Thiruvananthapuram city where a rock promontory jutting out to the sea has created three crescent shaped beaches ideal for sun bathing and surfing. Kovalam has been an international tourist attraction for several decades now. Apart from sun bathing and surfing there are facilities for ayurvedic massages, rejuvenation treatment, catamaran cruising and special ethnic cultural programmes on the beach side.
