With an area of 285 sq km the Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, ensconced in a valley between the Anamalai ranges of Tamil Nadu and the Nelliampathy ranges of Kerala, is home to rare wild animals and rich fauna. One of the oldest and largest teak trees in the world, Kannimara about 360 years old, stands in this sanctuary. Quite a few hill tribes also live here.
