Valliyoorkkavu Bhagavathy Temple, Wayanad

A holy establishment that plays an integral role in the lives of the tribals of Wayanad is the Valliyoorkkavu Bhagavathy Temple. Its ten-day festival (in January/February) features rituals and rites like kalamezhuthu (floor art), Eedum koorum (ritual dance performed by oracles) and Sopana nritham (a dance form).

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy who is worshipped in three forms – Vana Durga, Bhadrakali and Jala Durga. The temple is about 3 kms from the town of Mananthavady in Wayanad, Kerala.
