Thiruvambadi Sree Krishna Temple

Thiruvambadi Sree Krishna Temple is situated at Manthara in Varkala. The presiding deity is Lord Krishna. The temple is known for several vibrant festivals and folk arts such as Ammankudam and Mayilattam that are commonly seen here. Just like the other temples in Varkala the temple is also known for its Arattu ceremony which marks the end of the main festival. On the day of the Arattu a procession takes place in the evening with nine caparisoned elephants that are accompanied by folk arts Ammankudam and Mayilattam. Sree Krishna Jayanthi the birthday of Lord Krishna, usually referred to as Ashtamirohini, is also celebrated with great splendour.
