Ananthanatha Swami Temple near Kalpetta

Ananthanatha Swami Temple is situated at Puliyar Mala about 5 km from Kalpetta and as the name indicates it is dedicated to the Jain Thirthankar, Ananthanatha Swami.

History
It is believed that the temple was originally situated at Kalpetta, which was earlier known as Kalpavathy. But Mandappa Gowder, who later took over the management of the temple, shifted it to the beautiful hillock, Puliyar Mala in 1931.

Ambience and architecture
The temple is situated on a small hillock and the surrounding acres of coffee plantations add to its rustic beauty.

The temple is constructed in traditional Dravidian style and the carvings on the entrance doors will attract the attention of any visitor. The large carved granite pillar near the main gate and the ornate carvings of the stupa are other attractions of the temple. A carving of Mahavir, other Jain idols and symbols in stone are other attractions of the temple.  There is another small temple below the hillock and it is situated on a rock.
