Muniyara

Muniyaras are ancient burial vaults, which throw light on the ancient practices and lifestyle. They are also archaeologists’ and historians’ delight. Archaeologists conducted many excavations at various points around the foot of the Ambukuthi Hill in Wayanad district. They were able to unearth a distinctive series of ancient burial vaults and the remnants of Stone Age tools and pottery found in these cellars are now showcased at Wayanad Heritage Museum.
