Marayoor has the only natural forest of sandalwood trees in Kerala. This is an important pre-historic site in Kerala, famous for Muniyaras, pre-historic stone burial chambers. These dolmenoids or burial cists are made up of four stones placed on edges and covered by a huge stone on top called the cap stone.
