Alappuzha, a port town of central Kerala is also known as the ‘Venice of the East’. The wonderful Alappuzha beach is a favourite picnic spot for tourists. There is also a pier, which extends into the sea and is over 137 years old. Another landmark is the lighthouse on the beach.
