One of the seven and a half churches established by St. Thomas, the apostle, after he landed in Kerala in AD 52. There is a marked influence of traditional temple architecture in the construction of the church. There is also a St. Thomas Art gallery alongside the church built by an ecumenical body known as the Niranam Thomathu Kadavu Smaraka Trust.
