Nilgiri Tahr and the Eravikulam National Park

Besides the mist-clad hills, green-carpeted tea plantations and picturesque towns, Munnar also attract travellers from far and wide with its wild inhabitants named Nilgiri Tahr. Endemic to the hill ranges of the Western Ghats of Southern peninsular India, Eravikulam National Park is the largest wild population of Nilgiri Tahr one can find. They are brown-coloured, wild mountain goats with an impressive look highlighted by its swept-back horns and bristly mane.
