Day Title Description
1. ARRIVAL AT CALICUT TO WAYANAD (90 KM 3HRS) You will be welcomed at Kozhikode by our company representative. Today, you will set out on a journey to the hills of Wayanad. Remarkably unspoilt, at Wayanad, nature puts on a great show leaving you spell bound. The destination is off-beat so you won’t have hordes of tourists around. This morning, enjoy the landscape and hairpin bents along the way as you reach your destination, Wayanad. Take a snap at the Lakkidi view point and spend some time at the Pookode Lake before you check-in to your resort and relax.
2. EXPLORE WAYANAD As you soak-in the feel of Wayanad, today we take you to the beautiful Soochipara waterfalls and the pre-historic Edakkal caves. A 15-minutes walk through thick, wet and evergreen forests will lead you to the scenic sight of the Soochipara waterfalls. It is a three-tiered waterfall from a height of 200 metres. At the Edakkal caves: The surrealism of ancient carvings, it takes you to a different era altogether. Doesn’t it? Well, after lunch you could head to Edakkal caves, the only known place for stone-age carvings in South India. Do enjoy the jaw-dropping views of Wayanad from here. Have an enjoyable dinner and relax for the night at your resort.
3. WAYANAD WILDLIFE This morning head in the direction of Wayanad wildlife sanctuary. The day is going to be filled with thrilling wildlife experiences & temple attractions. Tholpetty Jeep safari: Travel through marshy tracks into the heart of the forest where the trained eyes of spotters will help you see wild peacocks, squirrels, groups of spotted deers, wild monkeys and elephants in the wild. Visit Thirunelli temple: A historic temple at the side of the Brahmagiri hills and near the jungle is a must visit. Also go to the Papanashini stream near the temple. Set up a campfire and enjoy a nice evening in the chill of your Wayanad jungle resort.
4. WAYANAD TO NILESHWARAM ( 190 KM 5.45 HRS) After breakfast, head to Nileshwaram, a tranquil area of empty beaches fringed by coconut plantations, un-crowded inland waterways and lush hillside spice gardens set against the immensity of the ocean. Explore Nileshwaram: reminiscent of the typical villages in Kerala. The area is home to folk arts, temple festivals, sacred groves and markets which really give you a feel of rural life in Kerala. Spend the day at leisure at your backwater resort and explore the villages if you wish to. The erstwhile Nileshwaram palace functions today as a folklore centre. Overnight stay at resort
5. NILESHWARAM TO BEKAL FORT (25 KM 45 MTS) This morning after breakfast you drive to Bekal Fort, the 300-year-old Fort is shaped like a giant key-hole. Thrashed unceasingly by stubborn waves, Kerala’s largest fort offers a superb view from its observation towers. The beaches around the fort are absolutely the best place to do a bit of soul searching as you swim in calm waters (well, almost!). The sunset view is inviting, there are fishing villages to see and the best part is that there won’t be hordes of tourists around. Relax for the night at your backwater resort in Nileshwaram.
6. NILESHWARAM TO HOUSEBOAT IN VALIYAPARAMBA (20 KM 40 MTS) This morning, take a short journey through backwater villages to reach Valiyaparamba. This stretch of backwaters is an undiscovered jewel of Malabar. After traditional lunch on your private houseboat, the cruise will take you through splendid waterways of narrow canals. You will get opportunities to explore village life and the country side. This is also your best chance to try some of the Keralan seafood delicacies prepared by your on board chef. As we drift along you will be amazed by the life by the waterside and witness a spectacular sunset. Overnight stay in Houseboat.
7. DEPARTURE FROM KOZHIKODE (180 5.45 HRS) Today is the last day of your tour. After breakfast disembark from the houseboat and head to Kozhikode. If time permits do explore some of the attractions of Kozhikode like Beypore, kappad, Kalari or even sample the Malabari cuisine.
