About the Institution
This centre for Folk Arts conducts courses in Velakali and Velathakil – an accompanying music instrument of Velakali. The centre was established in 1968, by late Sri Mohankunju Panicker, and run with the affiliation of Kerala Folklore Academy. The centre conducts regular public performances in the festival season. Also a new course is about to start which is meant for Kurunkuzhal, an instrument for Velakali.
