Malabar River Festival

The ninth edition of the Malabar River Fest, the largest International Whitewater Kayaking Championship, was held from August 4 to August 6 at the Iruvazhanjippuzha and Chalipuzha River at Thusharagiri, Kozhikode.  The three-day event, jointly organised by the Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society (KATPS) and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) had participants from 10 different countries including the UK and the US. The Rapid Raja and Rapid Rani titles of the Kayaking Championship were won by Amith Thapa of India and Ava Christensen of the USA respectively. As a prelude to the River Festival, pre-event adventures like mud football, monsoon walk, cycling, off-roading, kite festival, and triathlon were held this year.
