Kurukkathodu is a midway stopover on the way to Meenmutty falls, where butterflies swarm in astonishing numbers. Aralam sanctuary is a hub for a wide variety of butterflies, which come for the congregation and mud puddling and is a unique sight. The Aralam wildlife sanctuary, located 45 km east of Kannur, is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
