Chinnar

For Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary in Idukki, rain comes as a much-awaited salvage from the intense heat. Being located in the rain-shadow region of the Western Ghats, Chinnar, missing the generous monsoon in June-July when other parts of the state revel in deluge, gets its meager share of showers only around November. Chinnar has the world’s second largest number of grizzled giant squirrels.
