Silent Valley National Park

Nuzzled in the folds of the Nilgiri Hills in the Western Ghats is an arresting expanse of green cradling a rich haven of flora and fauna - The Silent Valley National Park. This pristine green blanket covering an area of 237.52 sq km is a unique preserve of tropical evergreen rainforests. It is one of the few bio hot spots in the world. And it is home to a rich biodiversity, sustained in an ecosystem, which is fragile and needs to be handled with care. 

JUNGLE SAFARIS

The Silent Valley National Park located in Palakkad district of Kerala is unique in many ways and the park offers several eco-tourism packages for travellers.

Sairandhri Trip

This is a trip you go on board upon to understand the wild, a voyage through a dreamy strip of land to witness the grandeur of the Valley. In the Sairandhri eco-tourism package, visitors get to traverse through the myriad forest types in the national park which ranges from moist deciduous to evergreen. The entire trip takes 5 hours and no accommodation is provided inside the park. Visitors are strictly prohibited from bathing in the river. The visitors can journey through the park in the Silent Valley Forest Development Agency owned jeep or bus. You need to hire a jeep for this package.
Package Timing: 07.30 am to 01.00 pm

TREKKING TRAILS

Boommiyampadi – Stay over

Tucked away about 13 km off Mukkali (base camp of the Silent Valley National Park) is Bommiyampadi, a quaint little place of surreal beauty right in the middle of the woods. The Bommiyampadi eco-tourism package is more of a jungle retreat and offers an enchanting journey through the pristine blanket of green. The package lets one stay in a ‘forest front’ cottage and enjoy a guided trip through the lush, wild woods. It also includes a trip to the tribal areas of Attappady. This package includes the Sairandhri package as well. After a stay at a cottage in the picturesque Bommiyampadi, the visitors can avail the Sairandhri package the next day.  
Package details:  After check-in at the information centre trekkers needs to reach Bommiyamapadi with the guide and safari will be provided in visitor’s own vehicle.  Lunch, Tea, Dinner, and Breakfast are included in the package

JUNGLE CAMPS

Walk with the Master

This is a paid nature camp that gives a wide opportunity for nature lovers and students to meet and have a conversation with experts or masters who are experienced exponents in the field. An open-ended nature programme, it includes topics like nature photography, nature walk and many more. It is a 2-3 day programme in which about 15-20 selected participants can camp in the national park.
Check-in:  09.00 am and Check-out 03.00 pm

Rs. 2000/- per head (2days) 
Rs. 2500/- per head (3days)


Keerippara Camping

Keerippara is the ideal package for those interested to explore the wildlife. A trekking and overnight stay package, it is a two-day package. This trail runs through a tangle of forest types in the buffer zone of the Park. This refreshing trail offers mesmerising visuals of butterflies and birds flitting above. 

Specifics: Maximum number of persons in one group is five and each group will be accompanied by a guide. The time span for trekking is 4 hrs. The package also provides tent accommodation for interested campers. 
Check-in (day 1): 03.00 pm and Check-out (day 2): 08.30 am
