Sumangala Damodaran

Sumangala Damodaran is a professor of development studies and popular music with over three decades of academic experience. She has taught at Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi, and Ambedkar University Delhi, and is currently based at the Institute of Human Development, New Delhi and Ashoka University. Her work focuses on labour, informal economies, global value chains, gender, and the relationship between society and music. She is also a performing musician, has produced several music albums, holds an adjunct position at the University of Cape Town, and has served as a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Washington, Seattle.
