The traditional blacksmiths of the area called the gods of Gurukkalottu Bhagavathy temple as "Chirakkakkula Thampuran Gurukkanmar". It is their family temple, and the temple is lovingly cared for in the verdant surroundings of a thick grove. The location of the recently renovated temple is at the Cherukunnu church stop in the Moothirikkadavu road on the Kannur - Valapattanam - Cherukunnu route.
