This temple has been built on a sandbank washed up by the sea. Unfortunately a civil suit is still pending between the Erumbala Nayanakkans and the Kadan Melulukkul joint family over the ownership of the land. The deity is said to have come from Kurankunnu riding on the umbrella of the family head. The Kavu is at the Keecheri bus stop on the Kannur - Taliparamba road.
