Kunnumbram Maadathin Keezhil Vaira Jaatha Temple

This is a rare and beautiful temple with double sanctums roofed with copper leaves. The Vaira Jaatha idol was installed in the temple after the existing idol was removed. Legend is that the Devi ran off with the Ooraalakathu family head who had gone to donate sacred ghee to the head Namboothiri of the eastern Porkunni Illam. The temple is at the Kokkodu bus stop on the Kannur - Payyanur - Pilathara road.
