The theyyams performed here are Puthiya Bhagavathy, Chekkicheri Bhagavathy, Thondachan, Vishnumoorthy and Gulikan. The poojas are conducted by the Thimiri Devaswom. Even though the Koothambalam here was supposedly shifted overnight by demons to the Thimiri Shiva temple, the site is still called the Koothambalam. Legend is that the Devi ostracized from Kaalakaatti Illam established herself in Chekkicheri.
