This temple which belongs to the Poonthottam Illam is said to have given refuge to Bhagavathy who was discarded from the Kaalakaatti Illam. The temple still retains its time honoured grandeur and magnificence boasting an ancient tiled structure and a rare Mukha Mandapam. The Devasthanam continues to adhere to strict observances of temple rituals.
