The divinity is said to have been brought from Thaliyil Mana by Pothuval ladies who hid the gods in their waist bands as pieces of turmeric. The Ara can be reached via the Madathumpadi road near Mukunda hospital off the Kannur - Payyanur road. The Ara is a Kavu with its own characteristics and here customs and rituals are retained in their conventional styles. There is Vellattam performance during the festival.
