The goddess who resides in this temple is said to have come from the northern regions. The temple is at Kandothu Thara stop on the Payyanur - Mangalapuram road branching from the National Highway 17 between Kannur and Kasaragod. The thara platform and temple have been renovated. The Devasthanam belongs to the Kandothu Thaivalappil joint family. An impressive and extensive Kurathi Theyyam is performed here.
