This Devasthanam is a superb example of the harmonious co-existence between nature and man. There is a fascinating story behind the divine installation at this temple. The Punnaakkan joint family head brought a Kurinji sapling imbued with the divine spirit and implanted it at the spot which later became a Devasthanam. The single Kurinji sapling spread around the area making it soon a grove of Kurinji. The pyre (Theekkundam) called Meleri which is lit inside the walls of the temple adds to the uniqueness of the theyyam festival performed at this venue.
