Anthi Mahakaali Kottam has many peculiarities. When the lamp is lit in the western Kottilakathu of Velothu Nambi Tharavadu the light is reflected in the Roudra Kaali temple opposite the Kottam. Pilgrims believe that offerings of rice and pots ensure fertility and successful childbirth (Santhanabhagyam). The Kottam is where Karippala Naagam established itself. The Divine weapon of the Kavu is kept at the Thalaynneri Poomala Bhagavathy Kavu and brought to Anthi Mahakaali Kottam in a ritualistic procession during the festival.
