The story goes that this is the temple where Narambil Bhagavathy made her abode after killing the Demon called Podavatheeyar. The Goddess then blessed the landlords called Nayanars and gave them paddy fields and cattle. The joint family house on the premises still retains the liveliness and plenitude of Goddess' blessings. The Goddess continues to protect and bless the locality by giving land and 8000 sesame seeds each year when the festival is conducted. The ancient legend of this temple teaches virtue and the importance of the awareness between right and wrong.
