This kavu has an unusual custom that dictates that the entrance to the Kavu is permitted only after the heirs of the temple have entered the kavu at midnight on the second day of the festival. In connection this convention, a traditional building meant for the protection of the heirs and temple officials is available. Devotees still adhere to the custom fervently. It is believed that the deity came from Kaitheri Edathil.
