This is a Kavu where the Kaliyattam performed on the premises each year is based on the Epic of Ramayana. The temple is believed to have been built by the sage Parasurama The Daivathaar Theyyam here represents Lord Rama, the Athiraalar and Kids Theyyam represents Goddess Sita (consort of) Lord Rama and Lava-Kusha the kids of the couple. Bappooran Theyyam here represents Lord Hanuman and Angakkaran for Lord Lakshamana. Ilankuruvan depicts Bali and Poothadi depicts Sugriva. The artists are from the Peruvannan and Munnoottan communities. Ooralans are bestowed with the status of fatherhood, Achan.
