Two Theyyams - the representatives of the spiritual forces of Shaiva - Vaishnava cults dance here as Thiruvappana and Muthappan. The legend of this temple is connected with the divine baby who was obtained from the Thirinettikallu steps of Thiruvan bathing ghat by Ayyangara Illathamma. Muthappan later became the champion for the sub-castes. Faith, dedication, and activism are part and parcel of this village which proudly remembers the memory of Cheyyarathu Sankaran, a martyr in the National freedom movement.
