Legend is that the Devi came to Peralassery via Valapattanam from the Muchilottu Kavu at Kottayam. The Kavu is near the Peralassery bus stop on the Kannur - Koothuparamba road. There are two sanctums (Devasthanam) in this Kavu which have been maintained in the traditional style. The kavu has also been kept up in its original environment.
