Kalpathy Ratholsavam

Kalpathy Ratholsavam is one of the most celebrated festivals in Palakkad district. The festival begins with a flag hoisting ceremony conducted at Sree Viswanathaswamy temple (Kundampalam).

This temple, situated on the banks of Bharathapuzha is the main venue of the festival. The festival usually falls in November and is organised at Kalpathy Agaraharam, the Tamil Brahmin settlement area of Palakkad.

The main attraction is the rolling of giant, elaborately-decorated Rathams or chariots. A week-long Carnatic music festival is also organised along with Kalpathy Ratholsavam.
