Coconut trees are part of Kerala’s visual vocabulary. They frame roads, fill backyards and rise above almost every village landscape, their fronds so familiar that we hardly give them a second glance. But those same leaves can have another life. Cut, sorted and woven by hand, they become mats, baskets and things meant for everyday use. It is a lovely reminder that in Kerala, even something as ordinary as a coconut frond can be worth a closer look.
