Situated near Ambalapuzha in Alappuzha district, Thakazhi Sree Dharmasastha Temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. On the Uthram star day in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (mid-February – mid-March), an eight-day festival is held, and it ends with an arattu or holy bath procession.

A ritual called Kalamezhuthu Pattu (Floor art) is conducted in this temple and is extremely popular among the devotees. Another specialty of this temple is its offering called Valiyenna (literally meaning – ‘great oil’) that is believed to possess powers to cure diseases.
