Thrissur is renowned for its colossal pooram festival held in the Malayalam month of Medam (April-May). Thrissur Pooram is the most vibrant and spectacular temple festival of Kerala. The Kudamattam Ritual is one of the main attractions of the festival and devotees and spectators from all parts of the world throng to the pooram to see the caparisoned elephants and their handlers perform.
