Murikkady in Idukki district unfolds as a high-range landscape where spice estates and open hill ridges meet. Located near Thekkady, this plantation belt is defined by pepper vines, cardamom shade zones, tea patches and stretches of semi-wild hill terrain that rise toward panoramic viewpoints.
The approach moves along narrow estate roads framed by tall spice plants and dense green fencing. A motorcycle glides through shaded plantation corridors before the terrain gradually opens into broader slopes. From above, the cultivated geometry of plantations appears patterned against forest cover, while winding dirt tracks cut across grassy ridges. As the elevation increases, enclosed greenery gives way to sweeping highland views.
At the summit, wide grass-covered slopes overlook layered mountain ranges fading into mist. A walk along the ridge path reveals tall wild grass shifting with the wind as the landscape opens in every direction. The contrast between plantation grids below and the dense Western Ghats forest surrounding the hill mass becomes more pronounced from elevated vantage points. Toward evening, gentle dusk light settles across the hills, reinforcing Murikkady’s expansive high-range character.
