The Pariyanampetta Pooram is a lively and culturally rich temple festival celebrated annually at the Pariyanampetta Bhagavathy Temple in Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad district. This week-long event, typically held in February or March during the Malayalam month of Kumbham, draws thousands of devotees and visitors from across Kerala and beyond, eager to witness its unique mix of spiritual and cultural festivities. The grand conclusion of Pariyanampetta Pooram features a stunning procession of about 21 caparisoned elephants, adorned in elaborate decorations and accompanied by traditional musical ensembles like panchavadyam and pandimelam. The procession is further enhanced by effigies of bulls (Kaalavela) and horses (Kuthiravela), adding to the vibrant spectacle of color and grandeur.
