SM Street

SM Street or Sweet Meat Street (Mittayitheruvu) is a 500-year-old commercial hub situated in the heart of Kozhikode city. You can see an array of shops on both lines of the streets that sell a variety of things including, sweets such as the famed Kozhikodan Halwa and banana chips. You can practically buy anything from a safety pin to an expensive electronic gadget in this street.

The history of Mittayitheruvu dates back to the Zamorin era when the Gujarati sweet makers settled for shops in the city. Even before the Gujarati community's arrival, the Zoroastrians or Parsis had come to Kozhikode and started different businesses.
