This video shows the preparation of Theeyal. Theeyal is a curry served with rice.

Ingredients
Shallots (halved) - 1 cup
Mustard - 1 tsp
Tamarind juice - half cup
Green chilli (sliced & cut into half) - 2
Red chilli - 2
Curry leaves
Ground paste - 1 cup

For ground paste
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Red chilli - 10
Fenugreek seeds - 1 and half tsp
Curry leaves

Method of preparation
In a pan, dry roast red chillies for a minute. Add grated coconut and as it turns brown, add coriander seeds. When the coconut is evenly well browned, add fenugreek seeds and stir for a minute. Let cool and grind to a smooth paste. In a pan heat oil, put mustard seeds, let splutter, add broken red chilies, curry leaves, shallots and green chillies. Sauté for 3 minutes, add salt, tamarind juice and the finely ground paste. Sauté for 5 minutes, add water and cook keeping pan closed till gravy turns slightly thick.
